National Model Contest Information

What you should know... Categories Rules Next Contest Contest Winners

What contestants should know....

1. This contest is a participant judged contest. Best of Show will be judged by
non-competing modelers. They will only consider first place class winners.

2. Builders enter contests for a couple of reasons. Some enter to show others what they like to build. The attitude is one of a social aspect and sharing in the hobby experience. Others enter contests to compete. Which ever reason you enter models always remember that this is a  hobby and is meant to be fun for all competitors.

2. To better your chances of competing and give yourself a chance to win. Modelers should focus on clean basic modeling skills. Judges will critique areas such as craftsmanship, which would include excessive glue, clear parts are not frosted, parts fit, seams and pin marks are filled and sanded, paint is applied in a clean and neat manner. Judges also look at scale. Scale is important because you do not want things to look out of proportion. Example, it is better to leave details out that would appear incorrect in size than to put them on.

RULES

There are some simple rules that govern our contest and participants should be aware of.

1. All models should be the  work of the entrant.  As a participant entering the contest you are saying that you are the sole creator/builder of the model entered.

2. All Previous HobbyTown USA, Oshkosh Winning models are NOT eligible for awards at future HobbyTown USA, Oshkosh events.

3. There will be NO splits to those posted for the current event. Always check what categories will be available. You as modelers determine what categories are utilized by entering those specific categories. Records are kept to make our contest suit our participants the best we can.

4. Be sure to place your model in the correct age division and category. Models incorrectly placed will not be judged. If you are unsure of the category your model belongs please ask a Contest Official.

5. Please limit excessive literature and props on the model display tables. Also when setting up your models do it in a space saving manor. The tables are usually full and all of the space we can get is needed. If you have some important documentation give it to a Contest Official and it will be passed on to the judges, for best of show considerations.

6. HobbyTown USA and Contest Officials are not responsible for broken, damaged or stolen models.

7. The results of all judging participant and Contest Officials are final upon the announcement of the award.
There will be no exceptions to this rule with the exception of clerical error.

8. Best of Show Winners will be photographed and sent to the National Committee for final national judging.
