ANNOUNCEMENTS
April 30th, 2010
Greetings all, a busy couple of weeks we have going.
Tonight is Friday Night Dirt Oval. Scott will keep this going as long as we have participants to make it competitive. The way to vote is show up and race.
Saturday is a private party on the carpet track and the outdoor track will be closed for big car practice. The Slot Car guys will be there in force on Saturday at HTO running a series race also.
Sunday is Rock Crawling at HTO, along with another private party on Sunday at the carpet track area.
BUT- SUNDAY, weather permitting, we will try to have controlled practice on the newly redone outdoor track! There is rain projected (early) but I plan to be out there by 10. We may not be able to run (if its too wet, its best not to tear it up this early in the season) but we will try.
Next week Saturday is a model show at HTO and also next week Saturday I plan to be running full racing on the outdoor track. We may ask people to bring a rake, or help pick up a few rocks, but it time to ramp it up.
I will ask, I'm looking for a few helpers Friday night (May 7th) and Sunday morning (May 9th) about an hour or two to help clear the carpet and arrange tables for the model show (Friday night) and put stuff back (Sunday morning). Let me know if you could help either time.
Oh, and welcome new members to HTO's email announcements and to Andrew Anderson, who raced for the first time last night and did very well for himself. We have a fun crew that come in (just need a few more Vintage guys on Thursdays.
Thanks all, see you at the track.
See ya'all at the races

Greetings all.
Racing updates for the this week-
Thursday will be carpet Oval/Roadcourse (HTO Vintage only on the road course) unless 3 or more show up in other class’s to run them).
Saturday indoor will continue one more week, it promises to rain out anyway, so come to the track.
Sunday is another workday at the outdoor track. We hope to have watering provisions available and be able to final compact the track, rake and final adjust pipes for the racing start up. I will be there at 10 AM. If anyone else has access to a compactor or small vibratory roller and can arrange a freebie, bring it that day. Those who help will be allowed to run and practice on the track after the work is done.
Outdoor racing will start Saturday May 1st with a warm up day (no points). Class’s for the season will be finalized, so if you want to run something for the summer, better be there that day to get your vote counted. Racing is planned to start at 12 noon, so be on site by 12:30.
The points season will start the week after.
I’m looking at a 15 week summer season with 3 throw outs.
July 3rd is initially projected to be the first racer fun day
(no points, but special trophies, drag races and jump competitions).
There will also be a few days over the season where we can’t race (and
rain dates), I’m projecting the end of season to be around September 4th.
There is also a TORC race probably coming our way again this year. Stay tuned for more details as things are solidified.
Be well, see you at the tracks.

Pictures after today's work day at the outdoor track-
Many thanks to those that came out to help-Jim, Cole, Gregg, Brandon, Mike, Andrew, Matt and Tom! And to Ryan for the work with the heavy equipment.
You can see in picture three the venture up into the elevation, we test ran it with a number of cars and except for a few spots to be worked on, it is pretty easy to navigate. Drivers will go past the drivers stand into a left hand turn with three mild jumps (or hit the launch right and clear them all). Head west through the offset mini jumps and up the tabletop to the elevated sweeper. Coming down into a Oshkosh Round-a-bout and over a couple small bumps to the back straight. A double table top end just ahead of a banked curve and past the scoring loop. A hairpin leads you back to the north, going over one tabletop and two small jumps and a right hand hairpin back south. We have to add the last moguls in the 2nd lane, but they should be there by race time. One last sweep takes you past the drivers straight (and a separate pit lane).
More work next week and play time for those who help. We have to water and compact one more time before races start.

I've added a new map to the off road track (Sunnyview Expo Center/Speedzone Raceway) to help guide folks in during the construction period of 2010 (until June, the ramps at Hwy 41 and 76 will be closed. So unless you have a helicopter, you may have a bit of a jog around the construction.

Greetings all, I forgot to save the results from Saturdays road course program to my disk and bring them home, so some I will do from memory.
We had again an awesome turnout, to include 3 INDY cars that made some pretty quick runs for typically being shelf displays. We just may have to add a class next year.
Racing went pretty smooth with a new layout and a packed house. Seventy Four racers registered to race on the carpet. Cole again amazed the crowd with earning bump ups to get into the A.
Andrew helped us out with a pace truck which did not work so well for Short Course, but Scott Muegge piloted my Cobra for the pace car in HTO Vintage VTA Racing., rolling starts are pretty cool when they work.
We finished all rounds and switched over to the Dirt Oval, where 29 racers ran a qualifier to determine the top 10 to go into the highlight race.
Cole got out in front early, only to have his battery die off at lap 113. Dylan had the same fate earlier. Chris, Jeff and Thomas suffered the turtle fate (on their roof and no legs to put them back over. Brian Hildebrand kept his cool and stayed away from most accidents to earn the win. All money taken in was given back to the top 4 finishers with Eric getting $15, Ronny with $30, Cole with $40 and Brian with $50.
Food was served up during the brief break before the figure 8 main and again, we thought we had prepared too much (plus all the extras people brought in) but the table was pretty empty at clean up time.
A racer raffle was held with everybody registered and still there getting something. A top end charger went to Nick Doran and a brand new radio went to Alex Nemecek- congratulations guys, they will put them to good use.
During the day we had the slide show going from last year summer (to get your spirit up for this coming seasons racing) and the last winter season. Club photographer Tina and contributor Davin had quite a variety of shots of racers in action that amused and entertained. Thanks to Gregg Frank for bringing in the projector.
A long day, but a lot of fun had by all. Results for the Figure 8 race are up on the HTO website. Results of the road course racing will be up later after I run down and retrieve them.
We do offer our best wishes to Art Merry, who was not able to make it due to an injury and Gregg Frank due to illness (but he did drop off the projector for our slide show, what a trouper).

Greetings all!
I gave a brief update of Thursdays race program the other day, but Friday and Saturday were just as exciting.
Friday had a great turnout for the Dirt Oval (which will continue into the summer). A number of folks turned up with 2nd Latemodels, so you will see their results on the web also. Its not just a gearbox, but its own style of ride.
Speaking of Gearbox, John R just beat out Chad for the win in the main by 3
seconds! Chad is getting a handle
on his truck and should get accolades for his persistence in making it work-
good job! Bob made a return to the
bullring with his Gearbox to grab third, with Tony and Mark a bit behind the
front runners.
Stampede was also close with Cameron getting the win over Andrew. Jeff Miller and the Tony/Scott tag team were not far behind. With the lap count as it was, pretty good racing for this class. Travis earned his bump from the B to the A with a healthy 34 lap run.
4wd Latemodel had Scott having to earn his win over Jon Miller. Jon also deserves accolades over his efforts to get that lawn dart under control and put the serious laps down this year, at the beginning, we had concerns, but Jon pulled it off.
Mini Sprints continue to be popular, with Dave taking the win over Michael.
Junior and Pro Short course continue to be the game with the most contestants. Camaron again earned his stripes with a win with Austin and Cody in tow. Lots of good racing with racing down to a D main!
Saturday was just as exciting with a great turn out and super racing.
I got to say, having Kaden (Grandson) turn 15 laps in Novice when I only got 16 laps in Junior was a blow to the ego, but a boost to the Grandpa gene.
Again there were three styles of Short Course racing with multiple heats for all. Novice was a nail bitter as Jacob and Alex now are only 1 point apart in the points series and bounced back and forth for the lead in the A. Jacob came out on top---today, you can bet Alex will bring his A game again next week.
I stayed out of HTO vintage this week, which is why their 8 car A main we smooth with all drivers finishing, congrats to new Vintage drivers Grant and Bryan for their finishes. Unfortunate for Tina I ran the Junior Short Course, bumped her at the end of the second heat and cost her just enough time to put her in the C main (I made the B). She got hit and broke in just a few laps-sorry Tina.
The rest of the day was pretty smooth. Dave G is coming on strong in Stock Sedan and all 5 drivers kicked it up a bit. The win went to Willy with 39 laps, good run!
Pro Short Course was again decided near the end with Brian H and Mark K battling the whole race.
Trans Am (VTA rules apply) had Mark with the win, but Jeff B and Davin F battled for that 2nd place the whole 8 minutes. Pretty exciting to watch, it gets me pretty fired up announcing too.
So watch for more
updates, the web is being updated today also for the summers schedules and such,
see you all at the races-

Greetings all,
This weeks racing was again pretty great.
Thursday on the carpet oval had again some records in Bomber tested with Keith and Dave battling hard up to the buzzer. Nascar had two full heats this week with Brian returning to the ring and grabbing a second. Racing was closer that it looked as Bob and Scott let these guys run hard, but all had the power to run up in the top.
Christopher Tipps had a great night, hitting his personal best in Junior Short Course. Eva (the new Mrs. Mazza) is getting faster with her best lap count (but watch out, she is getting the hang of this racing thing really fast and will soon be up with battling wheel to wheel with the big dogs.
Dylan had a good night with his Blitz, just beating Autumn and Tina in the A main.
Friday night on the Dirt Oval had Andrew getting a 43 lap run in C to jump to the B (which is the same number of laps Cody won the A with). Pro Short Course was close, with the A main drivers all finishing with only 4 laps separating them.
Ryan Lowe came in and is a new driver for us, but coming on really strong with a 2nd in the A main (and a great finish on Saturday also).
The excitement will continue on the dirt oval, watch for details coming in the next few weeks.
Saturday was a great day again. Seventy three drivers, really close competition and the excitement of the wing car slot car race going on in the other room.
Junior Short course went down to the E main, with the A main win being hard earned by Jeremy Papineau. I kept the day rolling but gave enough time where needed for a few racer glitches.
Novice was truly exciting, new driver Christeena Hughes taking the win. New drivers Taylor and Matthew got the rhythm down and came on strong in the mains. Alex and Jacob battled hard for 2nd, but a last lap accident allowed Jacob to take 2nd, Alex took 3rd.
Stampede had Andrew leading almost the whole race and running on rails. Tony made a late race charge, and it would have been a photo finish except he crashed and came in seconds later to the finish line. Both finished with a tremendous 20 lap run- awesome!!
HTO Vintage gained even more ground this week with two almost packed heats. While a lot of drivers did really well, the very tight qualifying makes this even more exciting (yeh, me putting the Cobra 2nd in the line up didn’t hurt either). The A main had seven drivers who all finished within 4 laps of each other, that is great.
Trans Am continues to be popular with those who want a bit more power. Mark finished the 8 minute A main with 55 laps, but Jeff Bergen held on strong to finish in second with 53 laps. Mike from RPM was a contender, but a mid accident hit to the RPM ride took it out for the day. Davin grabbed third and Aaron 4th after the long day/race.
For those power junkies, the sedan class is pretty cool to watch. Any slip, any bobble makes a big change in the order. Willy won after multiple swaps with Mark for the lead during the race.
So, it is hard to think summer is coming and we will soon be outdoor, slinging mud, but it will happen soon, stay tuned for details. And don’t forget to plan ahead for the April 10th blow out, trophy day, special race and activities to end our winter cold spell.
Be well all,
Bill

Greetings All,
We almost have our AMB problem resolved, I did testing Thursday and Saturday and promise all issues will be gone next week. Dryness in the air is the cause, (only 28% humidity) but resolve is in place.
Thursday was a good night, we see again the young (Kenzie and Dylan) getting more stable and coming up in speed in Nascar. Short course is leveling out for both Pro and Junior. Mark B had a banner night for himself, having again raised his personal best.
The battle was hot and heavy again in Bomber, with a record pace going, Scott Bathke took the win in a 3 lap shortened Bomber race (loop issue), but the competition is so close there, it is a awesome race to watch.
Friday went well, we have had a few drivers migrate to other nights and Scott had just under 60 come in to battle. Andrew not only took the win in Stampede, but earned the hump in Junior short course and took 2nd in the A main-GOOD JOB ANDREW!!!
Saturday was a heck of a turn out, 81 registrants came in to play.
A few issues (sorry about the broken toilet seat in the men’s room (I didn’t do it) and poor cornering in the Vintage A main. I was overly focused on the loop issue and did not notice some corners had slacked off. I do take my job and announcer and track manager seriously to provide all a good time, so some little things bug me more than others know.
Overall, everyone had a great time. Josh Dibb earned the bump up and improved his position for the day in Gearbox (a new driver that is coming on strong). Andrew proved his might again with a bump from the D to the C (we had heats down to E). Tina made the bump from C to the B. Bill Gould made the bump from the B to the A and improved his night.
HTO Vintage is still VERY strong, two full heats yesterday. I pulled as my car was not counting in the first race (even I’m not immune to the loop issue). I qualified fourth over all but had Willy drive it for me in the main, who put it in the winners circle. Scott Springborn came out with his new ride and got faster throughout the day, as did Gregg Frank.
Trans Am had to be restarted at the 1 minute mark, but Davin finally is getting the handle on his ride. Mark came on strong, but this just wasn’t his day for this class. Jeff Bergen was right there the whole race. A few accidents is the only reason for the 1 lap separation.
I, and all the people from Hobbytown appreciate the racers who come in and share their time with us. I hope everyone came away with a little bit of fun under their belts.
THANK YOU!!
Bill

Greetings all, with week 5 of the points season in the record books, it was a great couple days of racing.
More people have been asking how we will handle the end of season for trophies and such. All I can say is Bob really wants to do a blow out get together for all who have come back (and new comers alike) to support our local race program. We try, and it must be working. There will be more over the next few weeks, but trust me it will be worth running the whole season and a great time.
Thursdays racing saw Dylan take Bruce’s Nascar ride to the TQ in the first run, Scott Muegge held on for his first main win in this class and congrats to him. Kenzie showed again her ability to adapt to a variety of rides, piloting Ted’s back up car to a great finish.
Ben Herheim is getting a handle on his Pro Short Course truck and took second overall with Jeff Dupey grabbing the win (even after some trouble in the heats).
In JR Short Course, Freddy came from down in the pack to take a win. Autumn earned the TQ with 34 laps, and repeated that in the main, but Freddy just beat her over the line at the end to earn an extra lap (they were only feet apart when the buzzer sounded).
Bomber was again extremely close and is exciting to watch.
And new comer Gregg Frank put a race together with his Stampede, earning his victory over Art (who again is running better than ever).
Friday racing had over 65 particiapants again. I did not attend, but I was told the racing was intense. A few hiccups in the program, but Scott keeps learning and everyone still had a good time.
Saturday for road course and jump truck was a blast. With near 60 registrants, it was again a full day with down to C mains in a few of the class’s. I let Scott run my Vintage HTO car so he could experince a four wheel drive without the dirty track below him. And then MacKenzie let me run her gearbox in the main. I didn’t embarrass myself, or break it, so all is good.
So the news is our Novice Short Course class. Drivers in the 5 minute main got between 18 and 20 laps. Those drivers in our Jr Short Course class finished the 1 main with 23 to 26 laps. They are getting better and having fun at the same time. I especially like to see the smiles as they come of the stand, just awesome. Congratulations to Alex for his TQ in the first round and Austin on his better run (by 1 second) in the second heat and the win in the main
It was also good to see Brandon Radtke back. He endured a lot to be there on a bum leg (so did Greg, having to cater to Brandon). But we were happy to see him blister up the track again.
Thanks all, again it was a great couple days of racing.

Not quite the turnout I expected, but between the racers who had a great time and the spectators who watched, it was a good day of racing.
Between the mains, and the long qualifiers, Mark literally turned almost 500 laps on the track today- wow!
Congratulations to all who participated as all finished the races. Alex who grabbed third and Mark B in 4th really deserve as much a round of applause for their finish, they battled often throughout the very long race.
Thanks all, lets do it again in a few months.

Another great week of racer, thanks to all the racers who came out.to HTO.
Thursday was a bit light, but has REALLY close action in the Bomber class.
Look-
1 2 51 4:04.08 SCOTT BATHKE
2 4 50 4:00.37 DAVE MUEGGE
3 1 50 4:00.46 SCOTT MUEGGE
4 3 50 4:00.76 KEITH HESBECK
That equates to a difference of really only 1.5 seconds and 15’ on the track. Great job!
Autum was put over to Pro Short Course for the night, but came away proud with some of her best runs.
Scott Muegge entered the realm of 13.5 Nascar with good success (hey, finishing in one piece at those speeds is good, but Scott did finish in 2nd his first night out.
Friday on the Dirt Oval had most of the regulars and a few guests doing serous battle. Spec Mini Spint had Braison get a win (always a strong competitor). Micheal McBriar won the Pro Short Course and Cody Vinny in Junior Short Course.
Gearbox looked exciting with the top 4 drivers within a lap and 4 seconds of each other. Bryan Hohn got the win, with Green Bay driver Kevin Burmeister grabbing second, Bob third and coming on strong of late is Chris Kuehne who was right on their tail.
Saturday also had a good crowd.
Our Novice entry level program is gainin some ground. Three drivers this week competed at their own level.
Gearbox had a record setting day with Pat from RPM hitting 25 laps in a 4 minute qualifier. Andrew showed off his new body in Stampede and Chris Kuehne earned his stripes in Pro Short Course grabbing second with Mark Kollock again with the win.
Junior short course was really exciting this week. Mark Buchberger had his personal best winning the C main and taking 5th in the B. Kenny N won the B and bumped to the A and taking second. Jeremy Papineau grabbed the win.
HTO Vintage went well (not my driving, but I’m getting back in the swing). Two laps separated the top 4 drivers and Micheal was getting faster as the day went on.
VTA Trans Am went OK, drivers are still trying to figure out their rides. Mark Kollock took the win.
I will have announcement on that class following this.
Next week- the endurance races on the 17th!!!
Thanks all, it was a great week.

January 3rd, 2010
Wow, what a start for 2010! Thank you to all the racers who made it happen.
Thursday Carpet Oval racing had a great turnout, even for New Years Eve.
Jeff Dupey earned the win with a stock slash, running against strong competition
in the Pro Short Course class. Stampede
had Dirt Oval driver Jon Miller come in to sneak out the win (even after more
than a few motor problems).
Junior Short Course (formerly Stock Slash) had Autumn back on her game, only to fall to Tina Dupey (who also kicked butt on Saturday, more on that later). This class is still very popular for those into this for the sport and camaraderie. Gregg Frank will also be one to watch, coming on strong with only a few weeks under his belt.
Our Bomber class is on the edge of hitting 50 laps with two drivers this week hitting 49. Art had to leave early, but had some great runs in qualifying. Keith and Bob swapped the lead a couple of times with Bob earning that podium spot.
Gearbox is returning with Keith just beating MacKenzie. She had the lead a few times, but an accident on lap 32 let Keith get ahead. She says she let him win, but only just this one time!
Good racing, with no school the next day we ran 3 qualifiers and the mains so everyone had a bit more fun.
Friday night had the annual New Years Bash. Normal class’s were run plus in infamous Figure 8. While all the competition was close, we enjoyed that the Hartford group came up with their Mini Late models to field an 8 car race. Jason More won the Figure 8, with Dave Leung taking 2nd and Chris Kuehne taking 3rd. I’ll mention Alex who did earn 4th. He had a strong and stable race going, and worked he way up the ladder (and also had a good race in Pro Short Course, earning the win in the B and bumping up to the A.
Yes, there was drama. The flyer said this should be a 15 minute race. I misunderstood a conversation during the day and set the computer for 60 minutes, finally calling it at 20. My error, but a review of the results show it would have been the same either way. We will tweak the parameters for next time, but all had some different type of fun.
In all, 89 registrants, some very special racers and a whole lot of action is what its all about. Plus, the top three drivers in each of the normal class’s walked away with trophies for their efforts! I didn’t intend to push Scott out of the announcers booth, I was there for support and assistance. But I got carried away. My compliments to Scott for his normal running of the Friday program and his help over all the days and extra projects.
Saturday we thought would be quiet compared to Friday, boy was I wrong. Seventy three registrants competed. Three in our new Novice class, 5 in our HTO Vintage. Again a lot of excitement over the day.
A new layout greeted everyone with most in approval. Again the hot action was in Junior Short Course where the bump drivers made it exciting. Tina (remember her win on Thursday) battled the big dogs and took third, after holding on to second for parts of the A main (she bumped from the B earlier in the day).
Tanner Gould took the win in JR Short Course with Ken Nelson working hard for second.
Similar down in Pro Short Course, with A-D mains again, the bump drivers making it interesting, Willy took first (driving Davin’s truck who had to leave before we ran). Mark Kollock taking 2nd and Blaine Gould taking 3rd.
Gearbox had the brothers Brueske battle for the 1 and 2 spot. Jack Sommers (bump driver from the B, boy did he have trouble in qualifying) took 3rd, earning my accolades for not giving up and proving his skill on the track.
Our Vintage race was exciting, with the bump driver being again a stand in. Jim Tollard driving the Jeff Dupey vehicle took the grid. Willy led for a while, Mark Kollock stretched his legs taking over the lead on lap 10 and never looked back. Willy held in until lap 46, when a gear let loose (not bad for a ride he picked up Friday at 5). Larry B took the third place spot in this class and Vaughn took 4th.
Our HTO Vintage class resumed. Brandon Radtke tried to make it (he has a boo boo on his knee) and finally decided best not to push it. Greg ran his ride the first qualifier. We all offer our best wishes to Brandon, it is serious, but we all hope you recover OK).
Summary- there was a lot of great action over the three days. Hundreds of registrants had fun. So did a lot of spectators. Anyone who stopped by was greeted by racers and shown the ropes, it was pretty cool.
Thank you to all, it was a blast.

Points this week will be updated as normal EXCEPT, an errant dump of the racer data and restore may have a few glitches. If your points do not appear or look correct, please advise the racer director next time you race.
Thank you, Bill

What a great week of racing. The new Road Course layout-
I thought Thursdays Carpet oval was great, with a healthy turnout. More 13.5 Nascar and more will be there next week. Gearbox was back and alive along with another newcomer to the Bomber class.
Friday was highly attended as well, with some of the closest racing so far this year, with faster and faster lap times. Stock 1/10 sprint cars continues to grow for the Dirt Oval.
Saturday was again an awesome day. Really close competition in the larger than life Vintage class (18!!!). Plus multiple mains for all class's. It was great to see the return of RPM Racing's Mike (who not only won his Gearbox Class but the Vintage with Wayne's ride also).
And I'm really happy with the group of folks we have coming in for our local club racing, it makes it fun.
And thanks to those who gave me the positive feedback on the new track layouts. Glad you liked the work I put in.
Points and results are up on the web for all nights on the web.
See everyone soon.

Greetings all.
Yesterday had a very successful model show, thank you for all the patience
giving up a race day.
Next week will be back to normal schedules (Thursday, Friday and Saturday).
Heads up, no practice available today, track has a private party on it.
Carpet will remain oval until Saturday.
Also a heads up, but there will NOT be racing on Thanksgiving,
but we will be running the normal Friday and Saturday
night programs that week.
Please spread the word.
Last, after helping clean up the tables for the model show, we will be actively
recommending people use pit towels to protect the tables from oils, grease and
glues. It will also help you find your parts (if you don't grab your
wife's/mom's best fuzzy towels). Also, there will be ABSOLUTELY NO PITTING
IN THE WEST ROOM. We added table space in the race room which should
accommodate all.
Thanks all,
Bill
November 1, 2009
What a great week. Records set on each night, new drivers and multiple heats everywhere.
Thursday had the return of the 13.5 Nascar class, and the addtition of the 1/10 Stock Slider to the race list. Sliders have to have the wing off, due to the risk to the carpet, but they do look good going around.
Friday's Dirt Oval group had come fantastic racing, with the winner in late model hitting over 67 laps! Good Job Scott!
Saturday we took a vote and will continue to amend the Vintage rules to mirror the Trans Am rules, with two exceptions. One, we have a more open body rule (it must be an older style or unique) and two, stinger/4 cell cars are exempt from the FDR parameter. Just a quick scan of the mains from Saturday show how close the competition is. Thanks to Willy for putting the little black truck in the TQ spot. I will give cudo's to Larry, who was on a TQ run but one bobble is all it took and Dana who took the win Saturday. More new comers and lots of family fun.
And the group was pretty impressed with Kenzie, not only taking a good finish in gearbox but also piloting the Dupey vintage car so well, we didn't realize it wasn't Jeff at the wheel. Good Job!
IMPORTANT- next week Saturday is a bye week, no racing. Track will be closed for the semi annual model show. Sunday the carpet track will also be closed for a private party.
Thanks all, this week was a blast.

What a weekend! We had GREAT turn out for both Friday and Saturday (60 or so registrants each night) and then capped it off with a HTO sponsored Racer Appreciation Party Saturday night. Wow!
Thursday Oval racing is growing, thanks to the comeback of a few old racers, plus the addition of a few new racers, the track is back to multiple heats in many class's.
Friday night is a mix of old, and a good mix of new blood, um, I mean racers coming to the short course dirt oval. We have a class for just about everyone and will a few tweaks to the system this week, things are running smoothly.
Saturday had our biggest race day in recent history. Fully packed multi mains in almost all class's. The Plover group came down for some fun and gave our regular club members a fun time. Tina has supplied me with a great collection of pictures (I think more will be coming from Davin). They are up on Pictures from October 17th Race day and Racer Appreciation Day. Check them out.
Saturday had also our racer appreciation party. No extra fee's, nothing
required to attend, just HTO's thank you to all those who support our club
events. Trophys were handed out for all who raced this summer 8 racers or
more, plus special thanks to track help (Jim, Greg, Brandon, Cole) and a special
thanks went to me. Most know, I volunteer my time to the track activities and
today made it special.
I want to explain a little more. Not only have I been the announcer for
Thursday, Friday and Saturday racing this year, but help off nights when I
can. Saturday, I was having a bad day. A differential that just did
not want to be rebuilt, to a lot of little frustrations. Everyone who was
around offered help, everyone! From helping with the rebuild to anything
that needed help on the track. Once racing got underway, the smiles and
fun had by the racers started to turn my mood. Then when they presented me
with a gift, my mood turned. Putting effort into a hobby like this does
have its rewards. Friends, helping people have fun, grow and learn.
It was awesome, THANK YOU to all.
We closed Saturday with a Blinds man race. Drivers had to turn around and were guided around the track by a team member. I was asked who won, and I do know who was fastest, but who really won were those who got to watch, it was a blast. And for the record, two NON DRIVERS, Michelle and Sharon actually got two laps in the fastest of all the racers. Congratulations!
Thanks all, see you next week on the track.

Ok, somedays racing is great, this day was AWESOME! Too bad it was our last day on the outdoor track. Weather left the track damp, but the day was warm and I think everyone had a good time.
In our open class, we saw Matt Jorgensen earn a solid win today (down to the wire) with Dave G taking second. It was a close competition between the top 4 drivers and it really came down to the main, as the heats were too close to pick an early winner. We had too heats of the open, but I tucked them together for the main to make things exciting.
Mod short course had Cole on top for TQ and the win, but also not without competition. It was Cole's day (being his Birthday and all), but while good wishes abounded off the track, he earned that top spot and more. Ben Habel came in with Ashley and Rick Crosby today. Ben and Branden Radtke gave the front runners a good run.
Stampede was light again, with Damien earning the TQ, Cole came back in the main and took a win. Damien had a few truck problems and while Travis was there, his race was the slash and didn't give Cole a run on this one.
Stock Slash was again heavily attended with two qualifiers and an A and B main. Dylan Hunter earned the bump from the B and did great in the main. After 6 minutes, barely two laps separated the drivers and again, Cole earned his stripes. Matt Jorgensen took second and Jeff Dupey took third (it must have been his new car rack that gave him an edge today).
Stock gearbox was a nail biter. Dylan Henning took the TQ honors with Jason Ward qualifing 2nd and Mackenzie third. Dylan had issues in the main and we watched the lead go back and forth between Jason and Kenzie. Jason led more of it, but went down to Kenzie on lap 11 and she never looked back. Jason tried, but he still go beat by the up and comer Mackenzie.
We had other excitement. Speedzone had great deals on food again being end of year. I had my 1/5 scale there for fun and did some puddle driving early in the day (after having it fall out the back of the truck on my way in to the Speedzone). It worked pretty well until I tried to run it later. I didn't have the receiver box as sealed as I thought I had. Oh well, more begging for parts (and a lot of cleaning).
Jeff Dupey showed off his crazy (but functional) car rack to help in getting cars to and from the indoor track.
Indoor starts next week, with Thursday being oval, Friday nights Dirt Oval and Saturdays road course and jump truck. I've got a bit of work to do today in track prep, but it WILL be ready.
Thanks all, its day's like this that make it all worth while.
PS- sorry for getting ticked at Jim. I got hit with more than a bit of dirt from him doing a wild spin right ahead of the announcing area (and got dirt in my eye), but a few minutes to recover and we were back and running.
See everyone next week.

Thursday Oval had some exciting times last night.
Art Merry, in the Bomber class turned a 45 lap in qualifying and backed it up with a 44 lap finish. Now, others have hit that before, but Art has worked his way patiently up to that level and deserves accolades for not throwing in the towel early, when doing an oval didn't come easy. The Bomber class is a spec class of racing at HTO, with motor/battery/tire and body rules and to run with the big boys is quite a feat---GOOD JOB ART!!!
Mackenzie set a personal best in gearbox when the whole crew took it up a notch hitting also a personal best for the winner- Dylan Henning.
Cup racing saw the return of Mark Kollock and they set the track on fire with the new little 4WD's.
Vintage was good, with Jeff and Jeff working it hard (swapping TQ over the night but Jeff Bergen earning the win.
Good job to all on the last night of the summer points season. Again we will have trophy presentation in mid October.
This weekend is the last scheduled race on the outdoor track. Weather is questionable (as always), so if it rains to much we will pull electrics in and run on the indoor track. Stay tuned here or call the store after 10 on Saturday if questionable. If only a little rain, we will be doing it outdoors.
Thanks all, great season- great people.

Wow, great turn out at the outdoor track yesterday and even on the carpet Thursday (more on Carpet later).
Danger Dave took the day off, playing with his full size Camaro. Skip came down and dominated the open class with a 1/10 buggy. Greg Radtke earned a second in the main with Mark Bruss coming in third. Interesting for Mark is this was his first time running his E-Revo and he qualified towards the top and did well in the main. Matt Jorgensen came out for the first time with his E powered buggy and if he had tires on that thing, would have kicked some serious butt.
Normal for our Mod Short Course class was Jim coming out on top. He drove a pretty steady race, picking his opportunities and taking TQ and the win. Brandon Radtke earned his second place and Cole (in the Dirty Dawg ride) took third.
Our Stampede class had Damion and Kody going head to head (even finishing 1 heat within a few feet of each other). Kody held on for the TQ but Damion drove a great main for the win.
Stock Slash saw the return of John Wright to the arena, but dirt and lack of recent race time kept him in the B main. Cody grabbed the TQ for the day and the win, with Mark Bruss grabbing second (he had a great day). Michael Lemiesz bumped from the B to grab third in the A main.
Stock Gearbox had great competition today. Mitch Elliott came down with Skip and womped up on the rest in qualifing. A bad crash for him in the early part of the main and smooth driving by Wayne Johnson gave Wayne the win. Dylan got third when Mackenzie rolled on the last turn before the end of the race (giving her fourth).
A good day for sure.
For Carpet, we have word Mark Kollock will be returning in the HPI cup class for winter (and his son in Slash). We also had Samatha return to Slash racing on Thursday. Some new and some old returning to the carpet. Davin brought his Vintage ride to show off (it does look great). Rumor is we may have 3-4 NEW drivers entering in this class come October 3rd. Drivers like the thought of budget racing with great looks.
So, with the summer winding down, the winter program is taking shape nicely. Thank you all!

September 13th, 2009
Again, another great day of racing. Great attendance this late in the year and multiple heats for some really make things exciting.
In our Stock Slash class, Jeff Dupey took the win in the "B" main for the bump, with his car finishing well in the "A" main. Cole took the overall win in the Stock Slash after a great run against Matt, Michael and Mark Bruss.
Our Open Class was as exciting as ever, with Mark Buchberger getting a handle on his fully rebuilt Maxx. Willy came out and ran mine and a few technical issues with the steering keep him from doing better (I didn't loc-tite the screws for the steering last time they came out on me), it was cool to see him piloting a car. Winner today was Dave G (Danger Dave) who has a great handle on that Jammin truck.
Mod Short Course saw Jim T take the TQ and the win again, but not without some competition from Michael McBrier and Brent, two younger drivers (than Jim is anyway), he had to earn this one.
Stampede had Kody D come out to play and he and Luke N swapped TQ over the day. Luke's TQ held up, but Kody kept it together for the win.
Our most exciting run came with the Gearbox Class. Wayne had a lot of competition today with new driver Scott Springborn coming in on the same lap. Mackenzie D (boy I hope I spelled her name right this time or I will NOT hear the end of it) coming in 3rd.
We ran with a dry track today. Our water truck we draw from was elsewhere and the option was run dry or try to water what we could. For consistency, we elected to run dry and the track was really fun to run on.
We then moved on to our rain delayed Jump contest. Trophies went to longest distance with an electric, longest distance with a Nitro and Best Style. While there were some unique landing styles, all but one drove away from the competition. Greg Radtke took the longest jump with the electric with an E Revo at 51' 2", Hobbytown's own Jason Ward snuck out the longest in Nitro with a 50' 0" landing (honorable mention to Dave G with a 48' 5". Dave made more jumps, but they were shorter and not recorded on the sheet I have. Best style went to Greg Radtke who did a perfect back flip after leaving the ramp, landing on all 4 and driving away (I think he has done that before).
Thank you as always to our track crew- Greg, Jim, Brandon and our record keeper for the jump, Ms Mackenzie.
A great day all, 2 more weeks of outdoor racing, see you there.

August 30th, 2009
Yesterday's racing went well, until the rain shut us down just a bit early.
We did get the drag racing in. Jeff Pitts wowed us in electric but Larry Binsinski took the overall win for speed. We had the computer do the scoring over the 132' track and used a speed gun to do some final velocity speeds. Pretty interesting stuff. Willy was back out with my old Maxx (I didn't want to get my 1/5 scale dirty). Mark B took the trophy in Nitro. Micheal Holmes edged out Greg Radtke for the win in open. 2 cycle versus electric and .01 separated them at the finish.
Off road racing was slow in the first run of qualifying due to damp track conditions. All had better runs in the second set. Not all got through the second set of runs however. Trophies were given out based on the "best of" runs we had finished.
Stock Slash honors went to Larry Bisinski. Best run in our open class was put down by Danger Dave (in the firwst round no less). Dylan Henning earned his spot in Stampede, holding off Damion in two runs. Jim Tollard took the top honors in Mod Short Course (Cole had TQ after the first round, but let Jim have the second round so he could have a ride home). Stock Gearbox trophy went to Jeff Bergen. It was quite a race in that first round, too bad they did not get a second chance.
The jump portion was rained out as it was scheduled for the last event of the day. I will bring it out again next week for those that want to give it a try.
Thanks all, especially to those who helped with track prep Greg, Jeff, Jim, Tina, Brandon, Cole, Travis, Larry and Mackenzie. Also to Bob, he cooked the corn and the funds for the burgers for all registrants literally came out of his pocket.
Yes, there were a few spots could have been smoother, but over all a great day. Near perfect had I not had a run in with the pick ax. I appreciated those who helped me back up.

August 21, 2009
Good attendance last night on the indoor carpet program. The return of Keith H and Dave G, plus 2 new comers to R/C racing.
Stock slash was pretty competitive, with 6 cars qualifying within 3 seconds of each other with 32 laps.
Vintage had its own race again with Jeff B, Jeff D and myself running hard. Jeff B earned the TQ. What a sportsman he is. I broke in the second qualifier and Jeff wrenched on my car so I could make the main. He may be second guessing that decision, I beat him in the main (yes, this old guy took the win).
Jason Moore took TQ in CUP racing, with he and Bob swapping the lead back and forth in the main. Bob took the win in the end.
Art Merry was on his best run EVER in Bomber, on track for a 43 lap run, only to break at 40 laps with 16 seconds left on the clock.
Gearbox is getting back up to speed with Kenzie getting 34 laps for second and "the Dilliator" hitting 37 laps, good job!
Points will run through the end of September, then indoor fires up.
Again, thanks all, it was a great night.

Thank you Jeff, Tina, Greg, MacKenzie and Lisa for the help tonight.
Track and surroundings were hit with a week eater, then some home brew by Tina and Greg to kill off the roots. In the meantime, the track was raked of loose gravel and rocks poking into the drive line.
Looks great and a bit of water for the weekend will have a great run line for all.
We all appreciate the effort, thanks folks.

Wow, what a great evening of racing on the carpet last night. Those HPI Cup
cars are starting to get in a grove and the tuning is getting better. We had a
few Vintage cars run also last night and a cup car still took the TQ and win.
And remember, Cup cars run FREE for the summer season, come take a peak at these
little guys.
Slash racing was the closest I've seen in a long time, congrats to the winner,
he earned that one.
Saturday we are back on the dirt track. REMEMBER RACING STARTS AT 12,
registration closes at 11:30.
Preparation continues for August 29th, the jump has been secured, needed items
for the Drags are ready and the cooker for the CORN is down to its last details.
This may be a long day, but loaded with a lot of fun and interesting things.
Oh, and on August 30th, we will be hosting a Rock Crawling exhibition at
Hobbytown. Anyone with a crawler can come by. Just a bit of fun running to show
off a bit what this avenue of R/C is about. Free to play and spectate, so come
on down. There is a flyer for this also on http://www.hobbytownoshkosh.com,
so take a look.
Lots going on while it still warm enough outside to enjoy it.
See ya'all Saturday.

Greetings all,
With 40 racers on the track yesterday, it was another great day of racing. Yeh, I had some steering trouble with the MAXX after a great first run, but it will be back.
First important announcement is we will be starting at 12 noon (registration will close at 11:30 now) starting next week. People asked and all there were in agreement.
Second, we WILL be racing next week. Yes, the Winnebago County Fair will be going on, along with a Demolishing Derby in the evening, but they did give us permission to run.
Good runs for all yesterday, results and updated points have been posted.
Jeff Bergen came out great today with a win in the Mod Short Course class AND Gearbox. Damien Ward did a double also with wins in Mini and Stampede. Jason Ward finally earned a win in open and snuck 3rd in the Gearbox.class.
Brandon was hot today, he TQ'd in Mod Short Course and improved his average lap a few seconds over last week.
Again, great day of racing, see ya'all next week.

Greetings all-
Just a reminder there WILL NOT be indoor carpet racing this Thursday (7/23) as most of us will be out prepping for the TORC race this weekend. All season racing resumes next week.
For those who just want to help with track prep, we are planning on being at the outdoor track
Thursday by 5:30. Bring garden rakes and a flat shovel. Purpose will be to make sure as much of the loose stuff is off the track. We have our Friday/Saturday crew lined up for the TORC race and Try Me track, but if your not busy come on by.
Thanks all.
Bill
July 19th, 2009
Good day of racing yesterday, even with missing the complete RPM and Dupey group.
Thirty two registrants came to play at the off road track yesterday which filled the heats out nicely and gave some great competition for all.
Greg conquered in Open Class. While Jason TQ'd and Brian Hildebrand challenged all day, Greg held on for the win. New driver Mark looked good and he and I will be fielding a couple of old school Maxx's next race to give you guys a view of how it should be done!
In our Modified Short Course class, Brandon shined yesterday (the other half of Radtke Racing). Pulling a second out in the main he looked good and is getting a handle on that ride. Jim TQ'd and won, and is normally followed by Cole, but mechanical issues slowed him down. Michael L looked good and pulled a third.
In stock slash driver Matt Jorgensen just lost out on TQ to Mike but did pull him in the main.
Skip ran extremely well in stock gearbox, coming back from a crash in the first lap (not his fault) but kept the normal Skip cool and pulled the rest by 3 laps in the end. Jason Ward grabbed second and Josh third. Competition was close from 2nd on down.
There were a couple of mini's there too. Again, a fun day and good competitive racing.
Next week, no normal program on THURSDAY or SATURDAY! Thursday we will be preparing the outdoor grounds for the TORQ racing and Friday and Saturday will be the TORQ races at Speedzone. Check out Traxxas.com for their race format and registration for this special race.
Thanks all, I had a great day.

July 6th, 2009
First the bad news, there will be no racing this weekend. Lifest rented the whole Expo and Speedzone complex and we would not be able to enter without paying their admission fee. Racing will resume next week.
Racing on the 4th was intense to say the least. Sixty registrants came in to run the new HTO outdoor course and all had a blast. Pictures are here- New pictures from the July 4th race
Five 8th scale buggies ran and battled for the bragging rights. An electric powered 1/8 buggy took the TQ and win, good job Justin.
In our Open class, a mix of monster trucks and gas vehicles participated and Wayne ran a solid three rounds of qualifying, but Greg held on for the win. Wayne had Mike (Mike Brueski holds many titles in HTO racing history) drive the ride in the mains. Greg had the lead a few times during the race, Mike ran out of fuel on the last straight away. Greg learned that "never throw in the towel" aspect of racing and took the win.
Modified Short Course Truck was well populated and ended with a C, B and "A" main. Many battled but the infamous Cole Tollard came out the victor after Troy and Jim kept the pressure on the whole time.
Stock Slash was just about as loaded, but I put the finals into a B and A main. That meant a 9 car "A" main that went VERY WELL, my compliments to the drivers. Larry and Dana Basinski from Plover took the 1st and 2nd place finish with relatively newcomer Douglas Heaney earning 3rd. I do mean earning, he held back some of the best but kept his composure throughout the race to do very well.
Stampede was lightly attended, but not without competition. Damien came out the victor with Doug on his tail. Travis came in a close third. Doug got sideways over the scoring loop on lap 6, making the computer think he finished first, but a lap check straightened that out.
Stock Gearbox (buggies and trucks like the XXXT and RC10T4) even fielded a B and A main. Skip held the top dog spot all day, but not without challengers. Our very own Bob put one heck of a race down (they both ran faster that the previous track best) with 17 lap finishes. Wayne grabbed third and Mike B, with thermal issues finished 5th.
Mini's ran and made the crowd come to their feet. So did the corner marshals, A LOT. While Larry settled in to just putting laps down (with a TQ and the Win for the day), others decided to play a bit much. I'll run this class without corner marshals next time we run, lets see if they goof around as much. The only negative I heard from the days racing was about 1 or 2 in this class, go figure.
Next year, bigger and more track time for all. We are still just getting the track stabilized as well as the programs.
Coming up next- Drag Racing and jump competitions- stay tuned for more soon.
Thanks all- I had a blast!
Bill
June 20th, 2009
Wow, what a great day of racing. Lots more this week and it is fun getting back to sub mains bumping to the "A".
I gotta say, having Willy womp up on all that newer technology with an ancient T-Maxx was quite a grin. Too bad he couldn't stay around all day.
Congrats to all.
Now- plan ahead for July 4th. We will have our normal schedule of racing, plus trophy hand out for the last season. PLUS, for each person registered, you will get a coupon for a free burger at the concession stand.
So, a special day, with a special treat. What more could you ask for from your local track!
Thanks again to all those who helped final groom the track today. A bit of water to deal with, but it was taken care of and the track worked great.
Bill
Points and results from the mains will be up on www.hobbytownoshkosh.com shortly.
June 17th, 2009
Greetings all.
This week, I will change the program at the OFF ROAD TRACK ONLY to be running 3 heats and a main. I'll carry that through until we have 70 or more racers on a race day (remember the good old days?).
We are also planning to race on the 4th, with trophy hand out from out last season and a few other tricks up our sleeves.
Remember too, racing at HTO's track is only $8 with club membership, what a deal for a great and local race setting. As Bob mentioned, we plan to throw funds from this year back into the track (as we have in the past).
Be there, no excuses this week.
Bill
